Glik’s/Fox BMX Demo

Last Saturday, July 2nd, was a hot but perfect day for skating.  Over 100 people showed up at Glik’s in Farmington, MO and later at the Farmington Skate Park to meet the members of the Fox BMX team and to have the chance to not only watch a demonstration by the pros, but to ride with them as well. Those present also had the chance to win a CULT bike.

Fox BMX pros Drew Bezanson, Scotty Cranmer and Pat Casey started the day at the Farmington Glik’s for an in-store signing and to hang out with fans.  Later, they headed over to the 138 Skate Park for some quality shredding.  Tons of riders and fans showed up to meet and watch the pros.  Young riders were pumped to get the chance to ride with the boys.

Plenty of Glik’s and Fox gear was given away.  There were bigger prizes, such as the Fox July 4th Survival pack and a few Fox towels and skate gear up for grabs as well.  But the biggest prize, a CULT CC02 bike, went to lucky 12-year-old Dustin Sites.  He was psyched and began riding it the second he got his hands on it.  Congrats Dustin!

What’s Your Style? – Girl’s Surf

Love to hit the beach in the summer time?  Even if you’re landlocked with dreams of the ocean, this “Style” post is for you.  “Surfer” style is all about staying cool and comfortable in loose-fitting, colorful clothing.  Don’t forget your swimsuit!

Outfit 1:

This outfit is all about bright colors and staying cool in the hot summer sun.  The top fits loosely yet still offers some shape, perfect for throwing over your swimsuit or layering with a bright pink or blue tank.  Jean shorts are a must in the summer, the more destructed and “chill” the better.  Sinful swim offers a variety of bikinis, and this pink color looks great under this top.  Add a simple pair of flip-flops and some fabulous neon wayfarers to complete the look.

The beach can get chilly at night.  This outfit is just what you need for a bonfire and cookout after a day of fun in the sun.  Light-weight sweatshirts are comfy and warm, perfect for layering over a tank or swimsuit.  Jean skirts are a must for this look, cute and easy to throw on over a bikini, and the bling on the back pockets add a little flair to your outfit.  Throw on a cute yet simple pair of flip-flops and you’re ready to hit the BBQ by the water.

Fox BMX team riders Pat Casey, Drew Bezanson and Scotty Cranmer are coming to Glik’s!  Head to the Glik’s in Farmington, MO on July 2nd for a chance to meet and hang out with the team, get autographs and win some sweet stuff.  After the meet and greet, the team will be at the 138 Skate Park for a demonstration and they are also giving you a chance to ride with them!

At 1pm, head to the Farmington Glik’s at 746 Maple Valley Center to hang out with the team.  Our prizes for the day are:

-Grand prize: a complete CULT bike

-2nd prize: a “July 4th Survival Pack,” a backpack stuffed with Fox goodies

-3rd prize: Fox towels and a smash ball set

Register to win these prizes at our Farmington and Festus (336 Festus Center) stores this Saturday, June 18th, through Thursday, June 30th.  You can also register at the Farmington store during the event on July 2nd.  Winners will be selected at random at the event.  Contestants must be present at the event to win.

At 4pm, head over to the 138 Skate Park at 404 Stegenvieve Ave.  The BMX team will put on a demonstration and give you a chance to ride with them.

My First Trade Show by Kristin Krebs

Hi everyone! My name is Kristin Krebs and I am new to the Glik’s buying team. Beyond receiving my new title of Senior Assistant Buyer in Men’s, I was invited to visit a few of our vendors at Surf Expo in Orlando, Florida. What an experience!

Surf Expo was my first trade show and I had no idea what to expect. I was blown away by all of the vendors’ stations, activities, and even fashion shows that were all brought together in one giant conference room! Some vendors had booths set up with product while other vendors, such as Hurley and Billabong, had makeshift rooms set up with their whole fall line.

 Hurley is one of the big vendors we met with at Surf Expo. I love Hurley’s side logo tees, long sleeve wovens, and of course their baseball caps so this was an exciting showing for me. Looking through the preview book while viewing the line was significant because it showed how the items translate into a cad image and it gave me a reference to what colors were offered.

Another major vendor for Glik’s is Billabong. We didn’t see their new line, but we did preview their snow line for men. Snow gear is relatively new for Glik’s and a great addition for our winter months! It was hard to focus on the thick jackets in sunny Florida, but I managed! We also looked at snow gear from Neff.

Other vendors I visited at Surf Expo were Fox, Quicksilver, O’Neill, Vans, and a few others. It was such an amazing experience to see all of the big name brands and everyone else come together to create a fun and successful show. I had such a great time meeting our reps and different people who work with our vendors and everyone was in great spirits. Now I can’t wait for trade show number two!

Guy’s Fall Fashion Must Haves

Girls aren’t the only ones that have problems finding something to wear. Not all guys can wake up in the morning and pick up the first thing that they find on the floor. So what does a guy do when he isn’t the greatest at dressing himself to impress his date or even girl friend? He comes to me his personal shopper here at Glik’s.  I have come up with some HOT day and night outfits for Fall to ease your mind for when those last-minute decisions need to be made!

Day

Need that energy rush! This Fox/Monster hooded sweatshirt will give you that same rush as the drink will.

Why stop with a Fox hooded sweatshirt. Add some color by layering this white speed racer Foxhead tee.

Guys and denim go hand in hand. This medium wash denim from Silver are perfect for your BTS.
