Never fear, blinged-out denim is here! I can assure you that this is definitely not a tribute to circus-worthy rhinestone embellishments.  These days all the hottest premium denim jeans are sporting chic, funky metal studs and other adornments that are “light years” away from the era of the Bedazzler. Oh yeah. It’s okay. I owned one too and I went WAY overboard with it.

Rhinestone Embellished Denim Fits Best When Relaxed.

That’s right people. They’re not meant to be a second skin. I personally love plain tees, especially V-neck tees. That’s why I’m giving you the perfect excuse to break out that vintage rock band tee or soft boho inspired top created by this season’s favorite trend: crochet. You will keep the outfit from going over the edge of rhinestone-rocked ridiculousness by contrasting a studded jacket or blinged-out bottom with casual pieces.

 

Please Note: The same tip goes for footwear!  Keep it simple: add a pair of neutral wedges, casual sandals or low canvas sneaks to create an “un” thought-out outfit.

REMEMBER to Not Be Afraid to Accessorize.

There is no reason why you can’t bling into spring with fun accessories:  Bangle bracelets, bohemian beaded strands, layered necklaces and interesting earrings are a stellar way to add color to your outfit.

Festival Fashion {Trends}

One of fashions favorite festivals, Coachella, kicks-off the second installment of its two-weekend stint today in Indio, California. For those of you who are not familiar with Coachella, it is best compared to Woodstock but for Generation Y. Music fanatics from all over the world flock to California for two weekends of nonstop music!

Not only does Coachella attract some of the most premiere, cutting edge and coolest artists from rock, indie, house, hip-hop and other genres, but also tons of celebs, socialites, models, and daring fashionistas gather amongst music lovers from all walks of life. Celebs like Kate Bosworth, Drew Barrymore, Nicole Richie, Vanessa Hudgens and many other regulars on the festival circuit have set the festival style standard for 2012.

Here are some popular fashion trends you might want to try if you plan on traveling to a few of the many festivals scheduled this 2012 summer!

Cut-Off Denim Shorts: A proper pair of cut-off shorts are intended to look tattered and slightly dirty. This makes them a perfect option for an outdoor festival. A great cut-off denim short is the Trinity short from Silver Jeans Co.

 

Crop Tops: If you’re attending a festival this summer you’re bound to get hot. A perfect solution fashionably beat the heat is by wearing a cropped top. A helpful hint when wearing a crop top is to match it with a high waisted bottom so that it balances your figure.

Everyday I’m Cuffin ‘Em {Jeggings}

Okay fashionistas! As much as we just love playing with new trends and ideas, it’s often hard to deny tried-and-true wardrobe staples. A perfect example: cuffed jeggings. It’s a perpetual trend that’s making a comeback!

We’re absolutely bananas about the classic look of cuffed denim, and that look is now being transferred to jeggings. The key to “cuffing”  your jeggings is to make it look like you did it on purpose, because essentially you did. It’s extremely versatile and timeless.

DO: Wear a dark wash. Choosing to wear darker denim is always a great idea because it creates a “slimming” effect. A dark wash is always a classic choice because it can be dressed up or down. I suggest a stylish pair of Flying Monkey jeggings. They’re perfect for a fashionista on budget.

DON’T: Despite how classy a great pair of cuffed jeggings look with heels, avoid “cuffing” for formal occasions.

DO: Add a splash of color! Cuff a pair of colored jeggings like the always-trendy blogger Alantic-Pacific chose to do.

DON’T: Cuff a pair of flared jeans! It gives the impression that you didn’t even care to get them tailored!

DON’T: Go for a “cuffed” look in cold weather. Brrrrrr. I know it’s been warm out (it’s spring), but the thought of being “cuffed” in the cold makes me shiver. Besides, you loose your cuff in a pair of chic boots during the fall/winter seasons.

DO: Wear a fabulous pair of shoes! You can wear the “cuffed” look with heels, flats, booties, sneaks, sandals, etc. You name it, when you “cuff” your shoes become the highlight of your outfit!

DON’T: Forget to have fun! Mix-n-match your outfits and don’t be afraid to be daring! You can let your inner style goddess shine with a chic outfit or rock the cuffed look like Mila Kunis did (shown above). Fabulous Florals

As the weather warms, flowers begin to bloom in stores and closets all over. So, what better time to clean out your closets of all the dead cold weather fashion than now.  Bye, bye, heavy coats, bulky boots and thicker fabrics. Hello spring!

Luckily for us, floral fashions are blossoming in abundance everywhere. So, don’t pack away your cardigans, tights, light jackets and lace accents yet, because you will be able to reuse them this spring.

We find florals to be fun, so here are a few tips on how to wear them.

Be aware of your body.

No body shape is exactly the same. So, when buying a floral dress be conscience of your body shape. Petite girls can pull off delicate dainty floral prints, where as, graphic prints will work better on a taller body.

Play hide-and-seek.

If you want to create some curves wear a floral print with more of a color contrast and choose a fit that sits at your natural waist. If you dress is more of a shift then a quick fix would be to belt it at your waist. If you’re curvier then I would suggest a print with minimal color contrast and an empire waist cut. Remember: you don’t want to hide your curves. You should be proud of them. But when you wear an empire fit, you will elongate and flatter what you have.

Take a minimalist’s approach.

It’s important to remember to keep it simple when you’re wearing such a sweet pattern. As long as you keep the accessories to a minimum, you’re free to flaunt your fabulous floral style. A chunky necklace or bold earrings will often distract and cause your floral outfit to look gaudy. Keep it simple with a pair of studs and a clean neckline.

Add a little edge.

Just because it’s getting warmer out doesn’t mean that a sudden afternoon April shower or a cool evening won’t warrant for an excuse to carry a light jacket. Try adding some “edge” to your ultra feminine florals by picking a cropped vegan friendly leather jacket. If you haven’t found that perfect faux leather jacket yet, don’t fret, because a simple blazer, light jacket or cardigan will do the trick.
