We Do (Heart) Boobies: Keep A Breast

We all have in some way shape or form been affected by breast cancer. Statistics say that breast cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer found in women. According to the Breast Cancer Society Inc, every woman has a 12 percent chance of developing invasive breast cancer at some point in her life. In FACT, 1 in every 8 women that you may know will develop breast cancer. Men, you’re not excluded from this form of cancer; you can develop it too. It’s scary but true.

You’ve heard of or participated in events, walks, donation drives and shared, listened to and even read stories. It’s important to understand that while cancer is a very serious thing, through awareness and understanding of the disease you can take action in the fight against it.

Keep A Breast’s Mission is

“to help eradicate breast cancer by exposing young people to methods of prevention, early detection and support. Through art events, educational programs and fundraising efforts, we seek to increase breast cancer awareness among young people so they are better equipped to make choices and develop habits that will benefit their long-term health and well-being.”

Keep A Breast puts out a free quarterly magazine that provides informative news, company updates, interviews, as well as, art programs, artists, featured KAB ambassadors and events.

Keep A Breast Foundation “I Love Boobies!” Campaign

This campaign was created to promote the awareness of breast cancer, in an alternative, yet positive way to younger people. It urges younger generations to be proactive their breast health at an early age.

The highly recognized  t-shirts, accessories, hoodies, socks, hats, belts and bracelets act as awareness-raising tools encouraging young people to engage and start talking about a subject that is scary and thought of as taboo by making the message positive and upbeat.

Once reserved for wedding gowns, lingerie, and that favorite dress you wore to prom. Lace embraces all things ultra feminine and is making itself known this season. We are seeing lace embellishments, overlays, and edgings.  Along with lace apparel, crochet has been making a name for itself lately.  Whether it is crochet dresses, crochet tops, or pops of crochet trimmings, you will be seeing a lot of it.

This timeless “pretty-girl” go-to fabric has made its mark through the years. But, if you are just gaga over lace, save yourself from going on a date in granny’s shawl, or asking to borrow her doily collection for your dress.  Fear not girls!!! We’re here to lend some helpful hints to get you into more boyish cuts, throw in a splash of color, and add some unexpected accents.

Do: Accessorize

It’s not just lace dresses that are all the rage at the moment. Everyday items such as blouses and skirts have also had a dash of lace added to them. You will also notice that handbags as well as women’s lace shoes will be a must have! Lace is even being used in jewelry.

Don’t: Go for Lace Overload

{Neon} Blinded By The Bright.

If there was one predominant trend saturating the runway during Fashion Week in New York, it had to be NEON. Vibrant colors in general are huge for Spring 2012, but the hues most designers fell in love with were bright and bold NEON’S. Although neon is often used as an accent color, this season you will find neon tops, neon dresses, neon skirts, neon shoes, and neon accessories.

So say hello to the 80’s because they are officially back! Okay, so you haven’t sported neon in over 20 years? Worried about looking as though you stepped out of a Boy George video? All you need to do is work these colors in your outfits properly, so it looks interesting and not too flamboyant. We have you covered!

Neon Fashion Tip #1: Start Off Small

If you are a little uneasy as to how to work these bright colors in your closet, why not start off small? Work a bright pink neon tank into your casual Friday look, or wear neon colored jewelry to your trustworthy black attire. For example, wearing a sexy little black dress tonight? Skip the basic black pumps and work in neon blue pumps. Wearing neon colored accessories will add a hint of color and personality to any outfit. For even a smaller start, paint on some summer color on your nails instead of the normal pales and pastels.

Neon Fashion Tip #2: Shy Away From Accessories

When you are wearing a brightly colored fluorescent top, it is typically protocol to keep the accessories minimal. Bright clothing with overly bright accessories will look too chaotic. Another good tip is to avoid matching the same accessory color with the same color in your outfit. Stay away from neon orange jewelry, shoes or purses when you’re already wearing a neon orange dress. Simple!

Neon Fashion Tip #3: Bring in the Neutral Colors

When wearing a bright colored shirt or a bright colored skirt, it is best to try to pair the item with a neutral color. Don’t try to work a neon top with a neon bottom. Instead wear neon bottoms with a white blouse. Black also looks super fab with vibrant hues. When you’re wearing a neon pink dress, work in your favorite black pumps or sandals instead of wearing pink on your tootsies. The neutral colors will help balance out your look.

Depending on your body shape, neon can be less attention grabbing on either the bottom or the top. Experts recommend trying out several different styles and colors before deciding on what works best on you!
