Tropical Print for Him

We’re loving one of Spring 2013’s hottest trends: Tropical!  This easy, breezy tropical print will definitely have you in the mood to head to the beach.

This trend definitely has tropical roots. Be on the look out for patterns featuring leaves, animal prints, ikat, tie-dye, feathers, and bold birds. Key tropical colors will be reds, olive, gold, khaki, aqua blues, and bright shades of green. Important fabrics and materials for this trend are leather, chambray, linen, and light cottons.

This trend might be bold, but styling tropical print is pretty easy. Pair your printed top or bottom with simple solid color pieces that have a casual feel. Add some neon pop if you’re feeling bold like a watch, sunglasses, hat, or wristband.

 

Guys, this trend looks good on you so be bold and try a bit of tropical print to your wardrobe.

Summer Essentials

We are slowly but surely transitioning over into a new season. Despite all of this crazy Midwest weather that we’ve been experiencing, our heavy, cold climate apparel is being packed away to make room for lighter layers.

At some point as you start packing and unpacking you start to think about what add-ons you need to have in your wardrobe to complete your summer outfits. Personally I usually buy accessories, like a few new bracelets and rings, a super versatile pair of summer heels, flats and sandals, a light scarf, and a good jacket that I can transition easily amongst my outfits.

Once you find your essential add-ons creating a summer look will be easy. Below are a few of my newest add-on additions.

Viva Las Vegas

All of the photos from our buying trip to MAGIC have been uploaded and organized, FINALLY.  I can’t believe that this time last week I was in Las Vegas hanging out with the buying team and exploring what seemed like hundreds of vendor booths.  My trip seemed like a blur even though we extended our stay an extra 2 days (not by choice) due to the crazy Midwest snow apocalypse.

WWDMAGIC is held in collaboration with Women’s Wear Daily and runs for three days. This event features on-trend fashion forecasts, networking events, seminars and all the current styles of the season. WWDMAGIC features more than 2,000 new & established brands that range across every price point and follow up-to-date trends.

We only had enough time to visit 3 shows.

  • WWDMAGIC features the most current and wide-ranging collection of women’s brands.
  • FNPLATFORM is the shoe show at MAGIC.
  • PROJECT MENSWEAR features an extensive collection of men’s fashion brands.

MAGIC holds more shows that feature all aspects of the fashion industry, but we only attended these three, and three days wasn’t nearly enough time to properly explore the shows that we did visit.

With the addition of several new locations to our family, (Grand Haven & Holland, Michigan, Moberly, Missouri, and Jacksonville, Illinois) 2012 was a pretty cool year for us.

Nostalgic flashback…

What began in downtown St. Louis, Missouri in 1897 has grown to 60 stores in nine states. Crazy, huh? Homegrown in the Heartland of the Midwest, Glik’s has remained to its roots… family. Isn’t that where all things worthwhile and important start? Family owned for four generations, we are proud of 115 years of history.

We hold ourselves accountable to providing you quality clothing and on-trend fashion. Glik’s is already looking ahead into 2013 and the future looks bright!

We are on a quest in 2013 for domestically produced fashion! Helping to promote and create more jobs in America is the goal (call it our New Year’s resolution. )
